PEG HOUSE

The most exciting event of today (besides arriving finally at the residence of young bob perigoe) was finding a roadside store/gift shop called The Peg House. Much paraphernalia was purchased and excitement abounded :) We got an early start and a late start today--early cause we left the motel at 8 a.m., and late cause we were so distracted by the redwoods and ocean and nice people that we didn't end up leaving the area until almost 1! But we're here, in the Bay Area, only about 10-12 hours from our final destination of Phoenix, but it might take a few weeks to get there. Tomorrow we're going to explore San Francisco. Today, Peg had her first taste of both Taco Bell and Jack in the Box. We certainly are moving up in the world.
So, the redwoods in Northern California are incredible. They are the tallest (but not the largest) trees in the world and can be over 300 feet tall and over 1000 years old. the oldest ones are probably 3000 years old! crazy...
Definitely one of the coolest things we've seen on the trip. Besides the pocket desert of course.
